Kitchen Assistant Job Description

Kitchen assistant will work with a small team to prepare baked goods from scratch, such as scones and cookies, as well as an assortment of prepared foods, such as quiche, chicken pot pie, cold salads etc.
The position could also include “front-of-the-house” hospitality service, assisting with the sale of these seasonal treats in our market, as well as assisting with catering events.

General Responsibilities:
• Follow prep list created by kitchen manager.
• Follow farm recipes and established procedures to produce quality farm treats.
• Be able to properly measure and weigh ingredients.
• Properly label and store all ingredients and finished dishes.
• Maintain records and inventories.
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen, following food safety standards; includes
sanitizing food prep areas, washing dishes, sweeping and mopping floors, and
removing trash at the end of each shift.
• All other duties - as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
• Team player, positive attitude, outgoing personality
• Have manual dexterity to operate kitchen utensils.
• Be familiar with food-service equipment in a commercial kitchen.
• Be able to follow kitchen management instructions and basic farm recipes.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stretch, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Is comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Schedule and Compensation:
• Schedules and tasks change seasonally. This position will be available late August through December, with opportunities to extend into 2024 for the right candidate.
• Compensation will be determined based upon availability and skill level.
• Ideal candidate would have availability to work most Friday-Sundays.
• Part-time schedule could be accommodated, though full-time hours could be
available for the right candidate
