We start early in the spring, planting annuals in our greenhouses using our farm's value added pots, CowPots. In March and April we are busy starting seeds and transplanting plugs, from six packs to hanging baskets and combination planters.
By the time the warmer weather arrives in April our market abounds with colors from your favorite pansies and petunias to perennial plants like lupines and Rudbeckia. Plus you'll find herbs and other edible plants for sale among our aisles of greenery.
By June, fuschias, begonias and supertunias are spilling out of their baskets. Whether you're getting a late start to your garden or simply need to fill in a few open spaces, we maintain a full range of sun loving or shade preferring annuals and perennials through early July. And to nurture your green thumb Freund's Farm Market is proud to offer a full line of gardening supplies from tools to fertilizer.
The color continues all summer and through the brisk fall with our pumpkins, corn stalks, straw bales, and hearty chrysanthemums. Our garden benches are packed with asters, ornamental kale and broom corn. By September we begin lining up gourds and winter squash from the field. Ornamental corn and popcorn are harvested and hung for home decor.
While the growing season may be over, Theresa still finds a way to keep the greenhouse full. Our greenhouse evolves from garden benches to dinner tables as we host meetings, events, weddings and even a murder mystery! Looking for a unique place to host your winter gathering?
